History

Attorney O’Shea has been a US attorney for 26 years and concentrates his practice on intellectual property related matters (e.g., patents, trademarks and trade dress). He has drafted and/or prosecuted patents that leading technology companies such as Polycom and Apple have chosen to assert in U.S. District Court against competitors, and has obtained many other patents for well known technology companies. He has substantial experience counseling and assisting his clients, including publicly traded companies, resolve domestic and foreign disputes involving patent rights and rendering expert opinions concerning patent matters. He has been engaged by a leading private equity company as the U.S. member of a multi-national team to monetize a large patent portfolio purchased from Royal Philips Electronics. He has led patent and trademark enforcement and defense actions, as well as false advertising actions. He has successfully defended patent infringement actions in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and on the offensive side led a successful trade dress enforcement action in the ITC that resulted in a General Exclusion Order (GEO) and Cease & Desist Orders barring importation into the United States of certain knock-offs of his client’s product. His nuanced,resourceful and practical perspective has led Attorney O’Shea to China, Europe and around the U.S. assisting clients on numerous transactional and disputed matters.

Pat is a Springfield native. He is married with three kids and in his spare time enjoys watching his youngest (age 13) participate in various youth sports, spending time with his large family and friends, and playing golf. He is the President of Longmeadow Country Club and has assisted a number of local groups in various civic and philanthropic activities.
